Intel takes wraps off eight-way Pentium processor

Intel has released its eight-way Pentium III Xeon processor. The move increases the number of Pentium chips that can run in a server from four to eight, and pushes Intel-powered Windows NT servers into competition with mid-range Unix machines. PC vendors such as Compaq are already offering eight-way-enabled machines.
