Confidence reigned at the London Stock Exchange following last Saturday's dress rehearsal of the electronic order-driven trading system for the top 100 shares. Simulated trading took place under far more realistic conditions, the Exchange said, and the rate of trading suspensions, resulting from improbable or incorrectly typed trades, was 50% lower than during the previous rehearsal. The #20m system, which eliminates telephone dealing, goes live on 20 October.
