Seventy-five per cent of young people expect to be able to work flexibly in companies they join and remote working is a deciding factor in what job they choose, says research by researchers YouGov.
Some two-thirds of 18 to 29 year olds say a better work/life balance is an important factor in choosing a job.
The survey also showed that 43 per cent of young employees are willing to take lower pay to work from home, using remote working technology.
'For young people today the idea of being in the same office, at the same time, with the same people every day, is just completely out of date,' said Beatriz Butsana-Sita from BT Business, which commissioned the research.
'Wireless and mobile technologies and the ability to work effectively away from the office come as second nature to today’s generation of graduates. It’s increasingly something that they expect from an employer,' she said.
