Bean-counters are ruining Whitehall IT

31 Jul 2012

To suggest that the government – one of the most outsourced IT structures in the UK – does not “trust” the private sector is risible (Former government deputy CIO slams UK cyber security). It’s trust of the private sector that has got the government into its biggest problems.

The likes of McCluggage are leaving the public sector for firms like EMC because the government is downsizing IT teams while embarking on massive projects.

You cannot run engineering projects with accountants. This problem isn’t about public or private, it’s about a failure to listen to engineers.
