BT is having a laugh at our expense

21 Feb 2012

“I don’t think our history as a monopoly gives us any real advantage in this process. However, we do have a successful track record working with government to address rural broadband issues” (Analysis: Is the government’s fast broadband delivery strategy starting to fall apart?).

The BT spokesperson you quote must be

having a good laugh. Where exactly has BT “worked with government to address rural broadband issues”?

A third of the country has limited or no decent internet access. BT only got round to admitting that when funding became available.

I do not believe BT even needs the funding; they go for it to stop others getting a foothold into their market and breaking up their copper cabal. As long as BT can keep us all tied to the old phone lines their shareholders and fatcats are happy.

The engineers trying their best to help rural areas are disgusted.

I wish the regulator, Ofcom, would get some teeth and bite the people pushing all this false information out to government.
