Datacentre convergence: the jury is still out

The fact that none of the main manufacturers are willing to produce a customer for interview suggests that the tipping point for adopting new converged datacentre architectures may be some way off (Essential guide to datacentre convergence). Is there any evidence of real improvements in performance or are we in white elephant territory?
