The announcement of the government’s ICT strategy and its commitment to cloud computing signals a positive step forward in creating a flexible, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable ICT estate (Government's G-Cloud strategy begins to take shape).
The G-Cloud initiative radically transforms traditional public-sector ICT processes, ushering in a new era of shared resources and infrastructure that will allow government and stakeholders to benefit from a pool of innovative resources that will enable new ways of working, improve productivity and boost efficiency.
It also shakes up the government’s procurement process for the better, reducing the number of long-term and expensive contracts, encouraging competition, and freeing up significant costs that can be invested elsewhere.
