What planet are Unite and Dell living on?

10 May 2011

Ridiculous (Unite joins fight to save Nokia jobs). Nokia’s sales are in a dire state. They tried to run their own operating system and failed – their own CEO called it a “burning platform”.

They have since got into bed with Microsoft. With Android starting to lead in market share in the US, and the rest of us simply loving our iPhones and BlackBerrys, Nokia is in a fight for survival. Cutting costs will be vital if they are to stay in profit and protect jobs.

Typical of a dinosaur like Unite to pretend that it’s just the evil bosses out to get the working class.
Pathetic. All Unite can do is make the UK look like a bad place to invest and spoil the futures of those who do keep their jobs. What fools.

Another organisation that seems to be living in a alternate reality is Dell (Dell desperate to lose ‘consumer’ tag). Its marketing has been focused for years on consumer sales. The last campaign I can remember – colours everywhere – showed the happy millions in front of their TV sets how they could choose shocking pink for their laptops.

This sort of advertising isn’t likely to support the image of a business supplier.

Perhaps they need some new marketing people.
