Shatner nails it! Star Trek does beat Star Wars 'on every level'

20 Sep 2011

We never shy away from controversy, but Backbytes rarely gets involved in whether Star Trek is better than Star Wars. But now is the time, because William Shatner (he was Captain James T Kirk, kids) tweeted an interview this week in which he claimed that Trek was “more humane”, had better special effects, and was better “on every level”. That’s right Star Wars fans! Every level! We’re not going to get involved, except to say he was completely correct.

Star Wars wins!

It's all very well praising Star Trek's high ethical standards, but Star Wars was essentially BRITISH!

Goeorge Lucas notwithstanding, not only were large chunks of it made here, but students of the series will remember seeing such British icons as road drill compressors, and occasional eclectic items from the RS catalogue. And of course, our local hero here in Bristol is the great (huge actually) Dave Prowse.

Oops, just remembered DP was on the dark side... :-)
