In our ongoing series of nerd wedding reports, we bring perhaps the most romantic yet: last week the Daily Mail carried a report of Miguel Hanson and Diana Wesley’s wedding, in which the part of the minister was played by a software program that the IT consultant groom wrote when they couldn’t get a friend to officiate.
“Some in the family were like, ‘Really? A computer?’” said Ms Wesley, no doubt editing out the swearing for the benefit of reporters. We have no objection in principle to nerds being married by software, either on religious or ethical grounds. On the other hand, we do object on technical grounds. Look at the interface – it’s crap.
