The Computing Resources app

The Computing Resources IT Library provides a convenient tool for tablet users – both iOS and Android-based – to seek out white papers, and allows you to save them to be perused at your leisure.

It can be downloaded from Apple's App Store, Google Play or Samsung Apps, and is up and running in a matter of minutes.

The app provides users with access to more than 2,600 white papers from 400 of the sector's leading companies, including IBM, Sage and Symantec.

On top of this, Computing's editorial team provides a weekly list of their favourite papers, which acts as a helpful guide to the pick of the latest crop of articles.

Once you come across papers that catch your eye, you have the option of saving them to your bookshelf. The bookshelf is available whether you're online or stuck somewhere without connectivity so you can read content anywhere.

The resource library not only features white papers, but also analyst reports, case studies and product specifications so, if you are looking for information about low carbon infrastructure for example, there is a profusion of thought-provoking pieces to choose from.

In addition to a wide range of topics covered – you can find articles on topics ranging from customer relationship management to network access control to recruitment strategies – there is also a range of article types, from helicopter views of a market to detailed technical evaluation.

The app enables users to quickly build a collection of research tailored to meet their needs. By building up a personal library, users can quickly assemble a critical mass of papers.

It is, after all, more convenient to pack your personal shelf with dozens of useful articles that it would be to fit them into your briefcase. But having them available in an easy-to-carry tablet, with its ease of scrolling and pinch-to-zoom features, also makes it a far better option than reading them on a laptop.

For companies wanting to get their message to the UK's most influential IT leaders, there's little to compare with the app. Computing has more than four decades' experience at delivering great content to the UK's IT chiefs. With this app, Computing has developed a means to deliver helpful information in a way that ensures the people that matter will read it.

For hard-pressed IT directors, this tablet app offers the best way to dig deep in to the day's critical technology issues.

Does Google know too much about you?

Google's linked data policy, which came into effect on March 1, allows the company to collect information about its users across all its products, services and websites and store it in one place. This has been criticised by organisations ranging from CNIL to Microsoft, all of whom have expressed concerns that it's difficult to tell which data Google collects and how it's used. Now the Information Commissioner's Office is investigating whether Google's privacy policy is compliant with UK law. Are you worried that Google knows too much about you?
