A common complaint about engineers is their lack of awareness of broader business issues. But the IEE London Younger Members' Weekend Conference on Commercial Awareness for Engineers aims to address this perception.

The conference is targeted at potential high-flyers in industry to help them to climb the management ladder. Topics will include the role of the engineer, business strategy, marketing, the fallacy of figures, practical contract law and career planning for high-flyers.

The conference will take place at Latimer Conference Centre, Bucks, just off junction 18 of the M25, over the weekend of 24-26 October 1997, starting Friday morning.

Further details are available from Caroline Bowyer, IEE, Savoy Place, London WC2R 0BL. Tel: (0171) 344 5426, email: cbowyer@iee.org.UK.
