The response to the first Vincent Wong Award was so enthusiastic that we'd like to make it a quarterly event. At least, it's quarterly until the nominations run out. We'll be presenting the next award in November, so please suggest possible recipients. Remember: the company has to prize innovation in the field of management above common sense.

Our first nominee in the second awards: Midland Bank, or HSBC as we should call it. 'Some time ago I was given a laptop, as I often work away from the office,' says our informant, who we'll call Pete. 'A few days ago one of the clerical staff came round the office with a pile of stickers, applying them to all PCs, including laptops. The stickers read, "This equipment is a valuable asset ... it must not be moved or transferred to another area without reference to your cost centre manager".'

We condemn Midland's lack of security, and recommend they glue all their laptops to the appropriate desks immediately. More suggestions please.
