We don't normally feel sympathetic to employees at 3Com, but our hearts go out to Pauric O'Callaghan. For the past few weeks, his mobile telephone is rung at least 20 times a day by Orange's computer system. The messages started with repeated requests to pick up his mail, but now the computer has disturbingly started calling him to say 'goodbye', after which it hangs up. Orange has suggested that perhaps one of Mr O'Callaghan's friends has hacked into the system, but at least by last week his problem had been upgraded to urgent. 'What the hell was it before that?' he asked us, in a break between calls. In the meantime, we would really like to meet the saboteur, as we may have some work for him.
