The ITSSS team completed a Microsoft Exchange project on time and budget. The new web-based service saves time and effort internally and externally, while innovative use of technology has reduced headcount.

The Co-Operative Group ­- InControl support and rollout team

In July 2007, the Co-op created a single operating model across its 2,250 food stores. Rollout started in April this year at a rate of 24 stores per week. To help increase awareness of the new system the team also created a 15-minute training DVD for employees.

London Borough of Havering ­- IT customer & service support team

The unit is made up of four teams that handle service desk, desktop systems, configuration and education. The past year has seen them take on relentless change, while restructuring and taking on a number of new initiatives.

Network Rail -­ rail defects management team

The team replaced a number of disparate systems, removing the risk of inconsistent data. Seven legacy systems have been retired, reducing IT support requirements.

Citi UK Consumer - technology infrastructure team

The team delivered a huge datacentre amid a significant staff integration, and without affecting customers. The IT team is credited with integrating two vastly different cultures from online bank Egg and its new owner Citi. The server estate has also been dramatically reduced as has the organisation’s carbon footprint.

Berwin Leighton Paisner -­ development team

The team adheres to strict professional standards while meeting extremely tight timescales for delivering and managing systems that are stable, reliable and used by clients. The team regularly meets to exchange skills and knowledge with peers and the business.

Lloyds TSB -­ innovation and research team

Established in April 2007 and charged with the introduction of £40m of technological innovation, the team serves 65,000 employees and tens of millions of customers. It introduced blogging and regularly meets with thought leaders to discuss new and emerging innovations.

Lloyds TSB -­ process design and solutions team

A team of 90 people providing services to all areas of the business. It formed an integral part in the successful delivery of one of the biggest programmes developed at the bank this year, and scores a 99.91 per cent rating for its task management delivery.
