The all-new UK IT Industry Awards 2009, hosted by the BCS and Computing, are now open for entries.
One of the most important areas the awards programme seeks to recognise is the successful delivery of new business technology initiatives.
The Project Excellence awards are presented to projects and the professionals involved in them that have delivered real benefits to organisations through the implementation of IT.
If you believe your project meets the criteria, we want to hear from you. This year, we are inviting entries in six categories:
• Innovative project of the year
• Community project of the year
• Private sector project of the year
• Public sector project of the year
• Environmental project of the year
• IT project team of the year
We are looking for examples of end-user projects that highlight the importance of new technology initiatives and demonstrate the benefits of well-managed IT implementations for changing and improving business and public life.
Projects should have a significant UK-based element. Note that IT suppliers may nominate their customers for these awards, but should be aware that the awards are for organisations that successfully implement IT.
The awards in this category will be judged against four key criteria:
Return on investment: how the project has measurably and demonstrably improved your organisation, developed a competitive advantage, enhanced public services or helped the wider community.
Innovation: has the project introduced new or leading-edge technologies, created different ways of working or supported change in business direction?
Management: was the project completed on time and to budget? What lessons have been learnt by the implementation team to improve management of future projects? Were the overall project objectives achieved?
Excellence: does the project demonstrate that the use of technology is a vital enabler to improving organisational excellence, competitiveness or quality of service? How will the project be developed and how will it support future growth or change in the organisation?
The UK IT Industry Awards 2009 are the new benchmark for excellence throughout the computer industry, and combine the strengths of their predecessors, the Computing Awards for Excellence and the BCS IT Industry Awards. The awards ceremony will be the biggest night of the year for the IT profession in the UK.
The winners will be announced at the lavish prizegiving ceremony, to be held at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London on Thursday 12 November 2009.
