The opening address at SQM97, to be held on 24 March in Bath, will be presented by Brian Holmes from the EC DGIII. It will be entitled 'EC support for software best practice'.

On the following day, there will be three tutorials to choose from.

Getting IT right first time - the year 2000 challenge. Tom Glasson of Taskforce 2000 and John Ivinson from the BCS Year 2000 Working Party will discuss the millennium problem, project management issues, alternative approaches, technical issues, testing strategy, archive and retrieval, and externally controlled issues.

Testing client-server. Paul Gerrard of Systeme Evolutif will look at difficulties in testing client-server. Using principles of testing he will show how to develop and implement test strategies to address risks.

The IT infrastructure library. Brian Johnson of Pink Elephant and the CCTA will give a tutorial about the provision of high-quality IT services, and the role of IT service management best practice.
