High street retailer Accessorize has launched its own web site, independent of its sister company Monsoon.
The site will be rolled out across Europe and the US.
This follows several quarters of significant e-commerce growth in the accessories market, with growth often exceeding 50 per cent year on year, according to recent IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Indices.
Tina Spooner, Director of Information at ecommerce trade body IMRG said: “The online clothing sector has consistently outperformed the total e-retail market over recent years and sales of accessories soared by 62 per cent during 2009. In the first six months of this year the accessories index has grown by over 50 per cent, driven mainly by young fashion-conscious shoppers with high disposable incomes.”
The new site utilises web platform specialist Venda’s SaaS e-commerce platform and uses social networking tools, such as Facebook and Twitter, dynamic navigation, flash and behavioural merchandising.
Venda will provide technical and business support for the platform including maintenance, hosting, upgrades and system integrations.
Venda also provided the Monsoon site three years ago. Steve Back, chief operating officer at Monsoon and Accessorize, said: By creating an online experience similar to walking into an Accessorize store, the return on investment from the online opportunity is sizeable.”
As part of the expansion, the online store will be available in four languages across Europe, namely English, German, French and Danish.
