BT Global Services chief quits after profit warning

Earlier news of disappointing performance leads chief executive to stand down

Written by Bryan Glick

The chief executive of BT Global Services has resigned following the announcement of a profit warning in his division earlier today.

Francois Barrault had only been in the role since April last year. He is also leaving the BT Group board.

He has been replaced by Hanif Lalani, previously group finance director,

“BT Global Services, led by François, has achieved recognition around the world for the quality of the services it delivers, and will remain an engine of growth for the group,” said Lalani.

“I am committed to improving profitability and returns for the division while continuing to win new business. I am extremely proud of BT’s global presence, and of the contribution we are making to the countries in which we work.”

BT's share price has slumped since the earlier profit warning.
