Written by Janie Davies

Campus-wide wreless networking has increased productivity and enhanced education at Wade Deacon High School In Cheshire.

The secondary school, specialist in maths and technology signed local IT supplier MLR with a fully-managed wireless network.

Fifteen Motorola wireless access points were positioned and connected to a wireless switch to control and manage the whole network, which uses an encryption key to prevent unauthorized access.

The school had previously been experiencing daily technical problems and was heavily reliant on technicains, said Pamela Wright, Headteacher of Wade Deacon High School.

"Teachers were losing valuable lesson time trying to correct ICT problems that they were really not qualified to solve," she said.

"By the time the technicians had arrived to fix the problem, the teachers had usually reverted to more old-fashioned teaching methods."
