Department for Transport secures financial data

Government agency hires a security consultancy to ensure data security of its main financial platform

Written by Angelica Mari

The Department for Transport (DfT) has hired security consultancy Sapphire to protect its main financial management database.

The agency used the standard procurement process and the work was commissioned by DfT’s reseller Computacenter.

DfT’s database covers a nine-year record of data relating to departmental budgets.

The agency needed to replace an existing in-house system to meet corporate budgeting requirements, master data management and HM Treasury's requirements for financial reporting.

The DfT said it now has a corporate financial reporting system which is fully secure and meets Government Secure Intranet accreditation standards.
