The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has implemented its first high-security wireless network.

Previously the MoD has avoided making restricted information available on wireless networks because of concerns over security.

But the Information Assurance arm of communications agency GCHQ, known as CESG, has approved a system from Aruba Networks to be installed at the MoD Trading Fund’s Defence Support Group.

“As a supplier of vehicle and equipment services to our armed forces we are constantly looking at ways to make our organisation run more efficiently,” said Malcolm Smith, head of information systems at the Defence Support Group.
