Dell talks up green credentials

Latest play for the green market sees hardware giant making specific comparisons with HP products

Written by Tom Young

Dell yesterday announced it aims to reduce the energy consumption of its PCs by up to 25 per cent by 2010 in its latest play to capture the green market.

Dell specifically compared its announcement to HP's earlier this year in an effort to prove its efficiency credentials.

HP made a similar promise to reduce energy consumption by 25 per cent – but from 2005 levels.

Dell plans to achieve its energy efficiency goals with improved circuit designs, fans and power management features.

HP declined to comment.
