Strong european currency hits revenue at FSC

Profit up but revenue down at Fujitsu Siemens Computers

Hardware supplier cites strong euro among factors hitting revenue

Written by Janie Davies

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has reported a 15 per cent year-on-year rise in pre-tax profit to €105m (£85m).

But a strong euro and downward pressure on average selling prices conspired to drag down revenue 4.9 per cent to €6.6 billion (£5.3 billion), while a " strategic shift" in the company's portfolio also contributed to the fall.

FSC has removed TVs and PDAs from its portfolio, while channel partners have taken over maintenance of support for users.

There is room for improvement in revenues from terms of future strategy as well as the results of recent successes, said FSC chief executive and president Bernd Bischoff.

“In the past few months we have seen some major long-term wins for our managed services business but of course these are not yet reflected in our revenues," he said.

"Over the next three years the company aims to increase services revenue significantly, capitalising on the formation of an integrated sales force and the definition of an industry-leading portfolio.”
