Monarch Airlines has sold £1m-worth of flights through secure payments web site PayPal.
The budget airline was the first European carrier to offer its customers the option to pay for flights via the online service in October.
When buying Monarch flights using PayPal, customers do not need to share their financial details and can pay for bookings, upgrades or extra seats as well as hold baggage via the airline’s web site.
“We are still the only European airline to offer the PayPal payment option and since the launch sales have grown significantly,” said Monarch scheduled services managing director Liz Savage.
