Capgemini profit up 50 per cent

But scaled back HMRC outsourcing makes UK the weak link

Written by Martin Courtney

Capgemini saw profits rise 50 per cent year on year in 2007, with net income of E440m (£327m).

The strong performance was despite restructuring costs of E117m (£87m) associated with its acquisitions of Kanbay and Software Architects during the year.

The strongest growth came from technology services, with revenue up 11 per cent. Outsourcing services grew 7.8 per cent and consulting services grew 4.5 per cent.

The UK and Ireland grew its consulting and technology services activities by more than 10 per cent, though overall revenue for the region was only slightly up (4.4 per cent), largely due to a restructuring of the HM Revenue and Customs contract.
