Kodak focuses on IT maintenance

Imaging firm moves to a single contract for all of Europe

Written by Lisa Kelly

Kodak has moved to a single maintenance contract for its server infrastructure across 15 countries in its Europe, Africa and Middle East region to improve visibility and control by streamlining operations and reducing the number of suppliers.

The imaging company has been using supplier a&0 since March to provide maintenance support for Microsoft Windows and Unix servers running back-office applications, under strict service level agreements, on a per-country and per-server basis to tailor support.

“Previously each country had an individual maintenance contract for service support, but the servers were managed by a centralised team in the UK,” said Robert Spencer, manager, helpdesk and server operations.

“It was incredibly difficult to initiate hardware maintenance as there was a lack of alignment across the different countries, and a variation in overheads.”

The centralised support model has given Kodak more control over its server infrastructure.

“By consolidating to a single supplier, we achieved many benefits including leveraging better contracts, gaining control of operational costs, and having the transparency to enable us to manage maintenance more effectively,” said Spencer.
