Frontline aims to improve data quality

Magazine distributor contracts Trillium Software to optimise deliveries

Written by Neon Kelly

Magazine distributor Frontline has signed up Trillium Software to improve the quality of data across its operations.

A suite of Trillium applications will help the distributor to collect and maintain data relating to the distribution of more than 180 magazines, sold at over 55,000 outlets across the UK. The automated system will communicate with retailers and optimise deliveries by calculating the most efficient volume and variety of titles to be sent out.

Changes to Frontline's supply chain had begun to disrupt the quality of its sales feedback, said Nicola Whitehead, data development manager.

'Our problems were ranging from missing complete sales history files, where a seller wouldn't send us any data, to losing information on specific titles,' she said.

'One of the benefits of the new system is that it will reduce the need for manual intervention, which will also drive down operational costs.'

The new suite is currently being calibrated and is set to go live in the next few weeks.

Frontline is the UK's largest magazine distributor and is co-owned by Emap, Haymarket, Bauer and the BBC.
