Capita doubles contract signings

BPO firm enjoys robust quarter

Written by Dave Friedlos

Services provider Capita has almost doubled the value of major contract wins in the first half of the year after signing agreements worth more than £1.1bn.

The company is a supplier of business process outsourcing services primarily to public sector organisations. It has signed six deals worth over £100m, with councils including Swindon, Birmingham and Southampton and funds manager Resolution, since the beginning of the year.

Overall sales for the six month period are up by 17 per cent to £985m, while profits have also risen by 20 per cent to £118.9m.

Capita is in the running for a further £3bn-worth of work and is also expanding its offshore capacity by transferring 1,500 staff to India.

The company is planning to return £155m to shareholders through a special dividend.
