Swiss Re tightens security

New system will help with regulatory compliance

Written by Tom Young

Swiss Re, the world’s leading global reinsurer, has improved its corporate security protection against new threats to help ensure regulatory policy compliance.

The insurance firm will use a new system from vendor Secure Computing to filter internet traffic, block malware and monitor outgoing traffic to prevent data leaks.

'The Webwasher technology and appliance met our requirements best. The appliance offers the highest level of flexibility because of its ability to define very granular rule sets and enforce them,' said Christian Bai, senior systems engineer at Swiss Re.

The system works on source-based reputation scores for web page content, messages, attachments and images, so that known threats can be avoided.

Swiss Re says the changeover went smoothly and the system is now up and running.
