Currys and Dixons owner adopts flexible outsourcing

Electrical retailing group using skills trading platform to meet remote IT needs

Written by Dave Friedlos

DSG International (DSGi), owner of the high street electrical retailer Currys, is adopting a flexible outsourcing model to rapidly source IT support staff during times of peak demand.

The company has been trialling the OrderWork trading platform for IT staff, which allows skilled workers to be sourced quickly in rural and remote parts of the UK.

The platform enables DSGi to source staff from a pool of more than 800 IT firms to support its existing engineers on demand.

The company only pays when the service is used and meets its standards for IT staff.

The OrderWork platform allows DSGi to maintain high levels of service demanded by small businesses and consumers, says service development director Peter Northwood.

‘We can augment our permanent teams with expert, local, vetted suppliers to serve our customers right across the UK,’ he said. ‘We can satisfy our additional field IT skills requirements via one relationship.’
