Nuffield Hospitals overhauls IT systems

Healthcare organisation calls on Dell to replace ailing desktops

Written by Anna Winston

Healthcare organisation Nuffield Hospitals has announced a renovation of its IT infrastructure to provide better medical care across the company, replacing existing systems with Dell hardware.

Dell acts as a one-stop-shop for Nuffield Hospitals’ IT requirements, providing hardware, software and implementation strategies, says Iain Roy, general manager for IT services at Nuffield Hospitals.

‘I have worked with Dell for many years and have full confidence that they always deliver what they promise,’ said Roy.

‘Dell will continue to play a crucial role in helping us to achieve a standardised IT network. The hardware is stable and cost-effective,’ said Roy.

Some 1,500 OptiPlex GX520 desktops will be introduced to replace Nuffield's entire desktop range which has reached the end of its life-span.

The desktops will be loaded with Dell’s Direct Detect software to automatically update the status of each hard drive.

The new hardware is part of Nuffield’s push towards a more technologically advanced group infrastructure which it hopes will improve patient care.

The medical organisation, with 40 hospitals around the UK, is already using Dell Premier Pages software for its online procurement processes.

‘Online procurement will evolve in parallel with the expansion of Dell solutions across Nuffield Hospitals. Customised web pages and price lists give us great visibility around Dell’s product portfolio,’ said Roy.
