Water company improves efficiency

Three Valleys Water system will direct engineers and improve task organisation

Written by James Brown

Three Valleys Water is using a work management system to improve its customer services and make its engineers more efficient.

The system allows managers at the utility to schedule site inspections, plan when preventative maintenance can be carried out and put a priority on the most urgent calls.

In addition, it will also allow Three Valleys to forecast for capital maintenance, aid in corporate compliance and allow the firm to make a better account of its activities to water regulator Ofwat.

The company is has to hit increasingly exacting targets to deliver improved levels of service, and running more cost effective systems, says Three Valleys Water head of asset management Steve Robinson.

'Having access to accurate information about the condition, performance and maintenance of our above ground assets is essential for effective asset management, efficient operations, producing strategic business plans and for securing regulatory support,' he said.

'We chose to work with AMT-Sybex because of its strong credentials in the UK water industry. Working with them since 2001, we have built up a good relationship with the organisation in the development and implementation of our asset management systems.'
