The London Borough of Waltham Forest has selected a preferred supplier to provide the IT infrastructure for its local secondary schools.

The choice comes as part of a wider scheme to update and re-build education facilities in the area using £200m from the government's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

The IT element of the deal, which is to be carried out by education IT company Ramesys, means the seven secondarys in the Waltham Forest area will get new servers, desktops and managed learning environment technology to support teachers.

Children in the area deserve the best, in teaching, buildings and IT, says Waltham's cabinet member for children's services, councillor Chris Robbins.

'We are delighted and impressed with the way the contractors have approached our project, and look forward to working with them closely over the next 10 years,' he said.
