More than two thirds of teachers believe wireless technology will be key to the future of education.

According to a survey of education professionals, 69 per cent of teachers say wireless will allow them to have greater flexibility in their use of technology in the class room.

Technology is having a positive impact in all areas of the classroom, says Graham Cox, vce principal of Mossbourne Community Academy.

'IT is helping to reduce the time teachers spend on administration and allowing them to focus on the delivery of their lessons and the national curriculum,' he said.

'Students benefit too as they are more engaged through the use of interactive whiteboards and access to the internet. Together, this results in a more positive and productive classroom environment.'

Additionally, the survey by computer maker Dell showed over half of the teachers surveyed (55 per cent) said they thought interactive whiteboards will be important in future. But 79 per cent said budgets would be a big barrier to deploying useful technology any time soon.
