Asda seeks outside help to boost sales

Affiliate marketing programme to boost product awareness

Written by Dave Friedlos

High-street supermarket Asda is set to expand its online offering and improve product awareness on its web site with the launch of its first affiliate marketing programme.

An affiliate programme enables a business to sell its products by signing individuals or companies to market their products for a commission.

Asda will harness the programme to promote the entertainment, floral, contact lenses, gift and photography sections of its existing web site www.asda.co.uk.

Through TradeDoubler’s network of more than 100,000 active publishers, Asda will advertise its products across a range of publisher sites to drive sales on the general merchandise site and increase profitability.

The system enables the supermarket chain to monitor its website traffic and optimise its online inventory.

TradeDoubler will offer guidance, advice and support in optimising the performance of the programme and assist Asda in developing relationships with publisher partners.

‘The decision to partner with TradeDoubler is part of Asda’s broader online strategy,’ said online marketing manager Adam Culkin.

‘We can also take advantage of TradeDoubler’s extensive network of publishers to ensure we can fully optimise our return on investment.’
