Cosmetics firm smooths email backup measures

Dermalogica protects systems from spam and viruses

Written by Lisa Kelly

Skincare firm Dermalogica has installed email management technology to protect it from viruses and spam, and to guarantee a standby email system.

The company will also use the Mimecast online platform for its marketing advantage service to standardise and co-ordinate email campaigns, as well as providing improved security and business continuity features.

The email marketing function uses a template-based approach so Dermalogica can simply drop in relevant text and graphics.

It also provides tracking and reporting capabilities and can distinguish between groups and individuals for sending purposes, as well as giving Dermalogica the flexibility to specify launch dates and other features it wishes to apply in advance.

‘We were looking for technology that could improve our branding of outbound emails,’ said Simon Winsall, IT manager at Dermalogica UK.

‘We looked at standalone products but they were expensive to add on.’

Mimecast’s email continuity feature bridges the 24-hour recovery time guaranteed by its present disaster recovery solution. If Dermalogica’s in-house email servers fail, staff can still access and work with new and stored emails from anywhere with internet access.

‘It looks unprofessional if customers cannot contact us by email. In the interim 24-hour period before we are back up and running, we have access to email,’ said Winsall.

Dermalogica locations in the UK, Australia and Canada are subscribing to Mimecast.
