STA installs global content management

Travel firm standardises international web sites

Written by Dave Friedlos

STA Travel, the world’s largest student travel organisation, has implemented a web content management system (CMS) to standardise its global web sites.

The new system enables staff to quickly pull content from any of its global web sites including Lonely Planet, What’s on When and Off Exploring.

Customers can preview destination information while staff can upload information faster, simplify processes and control their content.

Global web master Craig Hepburn says using a single global CMS tool also offered enhancements such as localisation and language translation.

‘To achieve online brand consistency and stay ahead in a fiercely competitive market, we had to migrate to a single global content management infrastructure,’ he said.

‘Staff members have found it easy to use and getting content online quickly is also no longer a problem, which is vital for driving online sales.’

Hepburn says STA Travel has been able to upload 20 per cent more products through the system provided by RedDot LiveServer.

The overhaul of its web network has been launched in the UK, Australia, the US and Canada and will roll it out to other countries in the coming year.
