Clothing retailer dresses up IT systems

Data integration platform gives Peacocks real time view

Written by Dave Friedlos

Clothing retailer Peacocks has implemented a real-time data integration platform to enable it to access greater amounts of data faster and boost operational efficiency.
It has deployed the software at its data resource and reporting system at its IT and distribution headquarters in Cardiff to maximise its business intelligence.

Its data resource and reporting system helps the retailer to manage logistics, finance, merchandising, buying and stock distribution operations.

Peacocks operations and development manager Mark Webbley said: ‘We needed a data integration product that enabled us to access data and bridge legacy systems, to give us better information and help make the business run more smoothly.

‘After testing a number of products, we selected Attunity Connect to provide the link between our new Windows-based applications and existing legacy systems and data.’

Implementation took just two days and the application has now been rolled out to over 400 desktops.

Attunity Connect gives Peacocks’ in-house IT development team the ability to write new applications that access their legacy systems and data and deploy them directly onto the company’s PCs.

This allows for a better viewing interface to the data, a greater depth and scope of information and the capability to transfer information into Excel.

‘We now make Excel a standard on all screens,’ Webbley said. ‘If there is a data query, users have the ability to load information into Excel very quickly and with one click of a button.

‘Staff can access data directly in Excel and create a variety of reports such as financial, stock/inventory, delivery and purchase order reports.’

Webbley says staff can now access information and reports quickly in real-time, helping to run operations smoothly and more efficiently.
