Microsoft appoints new UK chief

Software giant gives post to Gordon Frazer

Written by Emma Nash

Microsoft has appointed Gordon Frazer as its new UK managing director.

Frazer will take up his role at the end of the month following re-location from managing Microsoft in South Africa.

He takes over from Alistair Baker who was appointed to lead the UK business in March 2004, and who is now moving to a new role, which Microsoft is yet to announce.
Frazer leaves his job in South Africa after four years and a track record of driving double-digit growth, effectively doubling the business.

Frazer said: ’I’m pleased to be moving to the UK subsidiary at such an exciting time in Microsoft’s history as we stand poised to launch major new versions of our flagship products, Windows Vista, 2007 Microsoft Office System and Exchange Server 2007. My aim is to build on our current success, working alongside a talented and dedicated team.’

Frazer’s boss, Jean-Philippe Courtois, president, Microsoft international and senior vice president Microsoft corporation, said Frazer ‘brings with him exceptional experience of Microsoft’s business and a commitment to leadership excellence.

‘Gordon is passionate about responsible leadership and people development, and led Microsoft to being consistently recognised as one of the top three best companies to work for in South Africa.’
