Merseyside Police has installed a purchasing system to make payments to suppliers more efficient.

The system is part of the force's effort to maintain a good reputation by paying its suppliers quickly and efficiently.

Phil Riley, Merseyside's head of exchequer services says the Civica supplied system will integrate well with the rest of its financial management software.

'It will speed up the process of dealing with suppliers and will provide the management team with a more accurate picture of the financial side of the force,' he said.

The Liverpool centred force is also taking on mobile data equipment to go in 140 of its cars.

On-board computers in the car will allow police officers to make vehicle and person checks more quickly.

Linked directly to the Police National Computer, the APD system will supply officers will real-time information, eliminating errors caused by miscommunications in radio requested checks made to control room.
