Housing association makes IT changes

South-eastern social home provider uses investment to power growth

Written by James Brown

Bedfordshire Pilgrim Housing Association (BPHA), a social developer working in the south east, is using IT to underpin its growth.

The Association aims to use its investment in new computing equipment to expand the number of properties it looks after and manage a wider range of house types without taking on new staff.

The BPHA's executive head of resources, Mike Hartley, says his organisation is focused on the efficient delivery of better services to a growing customer base.

'Alongside Socitm Consulting, we are building a roadmap for leveraging our information assets, taking a strategic approach to transformation through technology and developing our people,' he said.

'My colleagues and I feel much more confident that our planned investment in ICT will yield a good return.'

The association is building on a first phase of improvements which included bringing in document image processing and workflow tools and mobile, flexible working systems for some of its staff.

It now plans to use its new IT strategy to make big improvements in its procurement systems and bring in performance management software to help test its methods of delivering services to its customers.
