Cambridge Water has invested #50,000 in a geographically linked strategic planning and analysis system from Smallworld as part of a #340,000 project to digitise its paper maps and drawings. Currently, paper maps are used to locate pipelines and plan future networks. Using the package, Cambridge Water will be able to transfer data on valves, pipes and pipe materials from its original drawings onto the digital version. The system will run on Windows NT servers and will be accessed by Pentium PC clients.
