Adrian Blundell, DFID
Adrian Blundell is manager of the Department for International Development’s Catalyst business change programme.
A key part of this programme was the implementation of the Quest document management system, and Blundell played a key role in ensuring the technical and non-technical components of the project came together in a cohesive manner and were supported by effective change management and communication. He has opened the minds of business leaders to the opportunities of IT-driven change, nurtured involvement at all levels and played a leading role in establishing the structures for successful delivery.
Carol Groves, HBOS
Groves, a development manager working in HBOS’s retail bank division, championed a project to develop a .Net-based application that would capture customers’ aspirations through a highly visual interface and map them onto a suitable basket of products.
Groves has overseen the Customer Review application from inception right through to the realisation of benefits, working to ensure that all business stakeholders bought into the project.
The application is already exceeding targets for increased sales, and the system has proved a huge success with both HBOS staff and customers.
James Warn, RBS
Warn, a client service manager in Royal Bank of Scotland’s payment operations division, devised a way to improve service to clients who had complex money transmission requirements.
Warn produced a plan for a system that would obtain and process failed payment files from clients automatically, using RBS’s existing e-banking software. Previously, the only option was to use a fax-based contingency process.
He mobilised IT specialists to devise and implement the optimal solution, which has since helped more than 100 major clients by processing more than 15,000 payments that would otherwise have been delayed.
