Nationwide upgrades ATM platform

The building society will roll out the new software across more than 2,500 cash machines

Written by Angelica Mari

Nationwide Building Society is upgrading its ATM software to reduce management costs and expand the range of services and functionality available at the machines.

The new platform aims to provide a faster service so customers spend less time in branches. It will be installed in the building society’s network of 2,650 cash machines and will enable connection to multiple terminals, banking systems and will support transactions including complex intelligent deposits, advertising and cash dispensing.

"The software will enable us to simplify our ATM management structure whilst providing a significantly better service to our members going forward,” said Nationwide’s head of business logistics Chris Shott.

Possibilities to build on the NCR-supplied system include integration with tools such as customer relationship management systems, bill payments and contactless card top-up applications.

The revamp of the ATM system follows the news that the financial services provider is investing £300m on its IT-enabled business transformation plan.
