EDF steps up onsite renewables drive

New joint venture aims to integrate renewables products and energy efficiency services

Written by James Murray

French energy giant EDF has reorganised its onsite renewables and energy efficiency activities in a move designed to better integrate its green energy products and services.

The company last week announced that it had reached an agreement with its 50 per cent-owned alternative energy division EDF Energies Nouvelles to launch a new joint venture focused on decentralised energy generation.

The new EDF Energies Nouvelles Réparties will be half-owned by EDF and half by EDF Energies Nouvelles, with the green energy company running the new unit, the company said.

EDF spokesman François Molho told BusinessGreen that the new joint venture would aim to exploit economies of scale and cross-selling opportunities across EDF's alternative energy operations by bringing together all of EDF's onsite renewables and energy efficiency products and services under one roof.

He added that the new unit would target both business and domestic customers with a wide portfolio of products and services, including energy efficiency and onsite renewables advisory services previously operated by EDF, as well as solar water heaters, photovoltaic modules, heat pumps and wood-fired heating equipment manufactured by EDF Energies Nouvelles.
