SmartID has fared well in its first three months of trading

Smart ID sales up159 per cent

Profits at the security company have reached £90,000 up from a £3000 loss last year

Revenue at security firm Smart Identity Plc rocketed 159 per cent to £185,000 during its first half year of trading, up from £72,000 in 2006.

Net profit rose 91 per cent to £90,000 in the six months, up from a loss of £3000.

ANS Group successfully floated SmartID on PLUS in September. The company is capitalised at £4.5m, with ANS retaining a 31 per cent holding.

"The Company has been successful within the NHS, providing solutions around the National SmartCards and remote access processes," said ANS chief executive Scott Fletcher.

"SMARTiD has also entered other markets and is now developing solutions for a number of customers in the commercial sector."
