Computing Awards for Excellence: Business Hardware Supplier of the Year shortlist

EqualLogic

EqualLogic’s storage area networks (Sans) can be up and running in less than an hour, helping organisations to cope with changing demand. The European division of wine importer Foster’s is expecting to save up to £100,000 this year following implementation of an EqualLogic San.

Hitachi Data Systems

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) specialises in storage technology and services. This year HDS launched the first service-oriented storage solution.

Mirapoint

Mirapoint offers email security and scalable email on appliances. It has recently launched the embedded policy engine, which allows the email system to check its policy files while outside a firewall.

Netezza

Netezza systems reduce power demands by integrating server, storage and database into one appliance. By moving to Netezza, Orange UK has cut the power consumption of its data workshop by 72 per cent.

Pillar Data Systems

Since setting up in 2001, Pillar Data Systems (PDS) has developed more than 400 systems, used by almost 250 customers. Pillar Axiom consolidates tiers of enterprise network storage into a single system which can scale hundreds of terabytes, leaving users with only one system to manage.

Secerno

Secerno claims to offer the only intrusion prevention system which can block all SQL injection attacks, whether the attack is external or from an authorised internal user. The system understands the true intent of database interactions and can substitute vulnerable queries with more secure requests.

Secure Computing

Secure Computing’s security technologies have been taken up by top European firms. “The performance, implementation and management of the Webwasher system have been exceptional,” said Steve Hall, technology manager at Arcadia.

Yoggie Security Systems

Yoggie Security Systems is providing advanced IT security in the form of miniature Linux computers holding 13 security components from top vendors. The Yoggie Management Server can centrally control the appliances.
