London 2012 Olympics announces shortlist of IT suppliers

Organiser will select from four companies for its back-office systems

Written by Lara Williams

The London Organising Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Locog) has shortlisted four companies in the tender process to appoint an information systems partner.

The shortlisted companies are Accenture, BT Global Services, IBM and Logica CMG.

Locog received responses to a pre-qualification questionnaire issued on 11 September 2006. These responses were reviewed on 21 September 2006 and the shortlist selected.

A supplier will be selected in October 2006 and a formal appointment will be made in November 2006.

The successful partner will help integrate the London Games Organising Committee's back-office systems and services to create a system to drive the planning of the games.

The new system will provide a single repository for all new and recorded data used in the planning process of the London Games.

The integrated information system will form the foundation for the London 2012 Games planning across all key function areas including finance, facilities, ticket allocation and scheduling.
