Hospital gets incident report system

Ealing primary care trust gets web-based system to manage clinical issues

Written by James Brown

Ealing Primary Care Trust (PCT) is using a web-based reporting tool to handle the management of clinical issues in real-time.

The system is handling the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) requirements to collate data for handling risk management and improving communication levels.

Supplied and hosted by Vantage Technologies, the Sentinel system will give Ealing's staff the ability to report incidents in a single, central repository.

Milan Tailor, the risk manager at Ealing PCT says the key benefit of the Sentinel solution is the ability to report incidents in real-time.

'The web-based approach is simple to use and accessible for staff working remotely across the Trust - last month 64% of all incidents were logged online,' he said.

'That enabled us to provide a rapid response and also streamlining internal management through reduced paperwork and unnecessary administration.'
